Le Centre de la Mémoire
Take the time to discover what led to the terrible events at Oradour at the Centre de la Memoire. As well as the five permanent exhibition areas, the Centre de la Mémoire holds temporary exhibitions which look more in depth at certain aspects of the drama.
Since 1914, the Centre de la Mémoire has exhibited 500 photos of the victims of the massacre (out of 642). These photos have recently been transferred onto ceramic tiles and are currently displayed in the corridor leading to the martyr village.

Le Cinéma
The art déco façade of Saint-Junien’s cinema is evidence of the former function of the building : at the beginning of the 20th century the trade union offices were based here, as well as community services and cultural activities. Nowadays, the cinema has two screens, one of which is an arthouse cinema.

La Mégisserie

Centre Culturel la Mégisserie - Saint-Junien
The Mégisserie cultural centre was originally an abattoir. The name ‘Mégisserie’ alludes to the working class past of Saint-Junien which has long prospered from the leather industry on the banks of the Vienne river and especially the famous tanneries.
Today, the Mégisserie is a multi-disciplinary cultural centre with theatre, cinema, photography, music, dance and circus arts all on offer. If you are just passing through there are four regular key moments in the programme : Dance Days, Five Minutes before Christmas, Long live the end of (the) a World, and the North Star.
Learn the arts and crafts, discover the traces of the past, focus on creativity, in Saint-Junien culture is here to be shared and enjoyed.
Art and culture go hand in hand and two sites give pride of place to artists and everyone interested in discovering new ideas.
