This is more than just a picnic spot – it is also the source of the river Charente !
Javerdat
Coming from Saint-Junien, the picnic area is on your right. Two way-marked footpaths start at Javerdat : le sentier des landes et le sentier de la Perrière. There is also an interpretation trail ‘’le parcours de l'arbre et l'abeille " (the tree and the bee). Javerdat is only a few minutes by car from Oradour-sur-Glane..

There is a picnic area near the lake and the Meteorite camp-site - ideal for a spot of fishing or just sit back and relax and enjoy the view of the castle and the twisted church spire. And after enjoying your picnic take a stroll along the « le sentier de l'astroblème de Rochechouart Chassenon » footpath which passes next to the lake and below the castle. Rochechouart is also the starting point for five way-marked footpaths : the circuit de la Météorite, the circuit vers le chêne de Bramefan, the circuit aux portes de la Charente, the circuit des Crêtes, and the circuit de la Cigogne.
